A road bridge over the Aylesbury Railway in Buckinghamshire has been reinforced with foam concrete in preparation for the upcoming High Speed 2 (HS2) works.

Reinforcement included filling three of the structure's arches with foam concrete. The work, partly funded by HS2, will remove weight restrictions on the bridge, making it accessible to all road users in the wider area during HS2 road closures. It is scheduled to begin this year.

As HS2 engineers prepare to rebuild a bridge at nearby Fidlers Field Road and make way for a new high-speed line, Network Rail has teamed up with its contractor Amey and is working with HS2 and Buckinghamshire County Council on repairs that will help keep local traffic flowing in 2024.

Once HS2 work in the area is completed and the new road bridge is opened to motorists, Network Rail will return to Quainton to restore track between the station and the village of Calvert. As part of the work, a new bridge will be built at Station Road to ensure the railway crossing remains safe and secure for decades.
